This month Sheryl at The Lady Behind the Curtain posed a new Dessert Challenge using pears and maple.
I do love pears. Red Anjou are my favorite but I won’t pass up a bosc or bartlett ;). I admit I haven’t seen many different kinds of pear desserts so I’m very excited to see what this challenge brings!
I made a simple pear crisp with grated candied ginger for extra kick. I hope you enjoy it.
Pear and Maple Oatmeal Crisp
Ingredients
Filling
- 2 medium pears, peeled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 Tablespoon candied ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 water
Topping
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Method
Place pear slices, ginger, nutmeg, lemon juice and water in a 8×8-inch dish or divide between individual cassolettes.
Mix topping ingredients together and distribute evenly on top of fruit.
Bake at 375 for approximately 60 minutes until fruit is soft and topping has set.
