Tequila Margarita Black Cod serves moist, flaky fish topped with an orange-lime tequila sauce. Slightly sweet, tangy citrus taste your family will love.
This is my second recipe I’m sharing with you for this delicious, silky rich fish. This fish is rich in protein, omega-3, vitamins and minerals. Baked, it resembles sea bass in sweetness and texture. That’s why it’s also known as Butterfish. Delicious!
My Premium Sitka Salmon Shares delivery arrived in May. Sitka Salmon Shares sent me frozen, sustainable Alaskan Black Cod also known as sablefish, via no contact delivery to my doorstep!
Here’s how Sitka Salmon Shares works!
Each member receives a monthly share of their harvest – fish that’s in season and respects the limits of nature. Their fishermen catch their fish with lots of love, using low-impact gear that respects the ocean and its sea life.
They have shares in many shapes and sizes that come individually portioned, vacuum-sealed and blast-frozen to lock in that fresh-from-the-ocean taste.
Every month during fishing season, you get a box of wild-caught Alaskan seafood hand-delivered right to your door by one of their affable and well-mannered Sitka Salmon Stewards or our friends at Fed Ex.
Wait there’s more!
I’m sharing my money saving code to offer you $25 off of the following shares: Premium Sitka Seafood Share, Sitka Seafood Share, or the Sitka Salmon Share. Please note, the code will not work with the Taste of Summer Share.

Tequila Margarita Black Cod
Tequila Margarita Black Cod
Ingredients
- 6 ounces Black Cod (I use Sitka Salmon Shares)
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 4 each thinly sliced orange slices
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 Tablespoon orange juice, fresh squeezed
- 2 teaspoons lime juice, fresh squeezed
- 1 Tablespoon tequila
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place oil in a shallow baking dish. Season fish with salt and pepper. Place fish skin side down in baking dish. Top with orange slices. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees.
- While fish bakes, prepare sauce. Place sugar, orange juice and lime juice in a 1-quart saucepan. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until sugar dissolves and sauce starts to thicken. Add tequila and continue cooking and stirring until sauce thickens, for about 2 minutes.
- Pour sauce over cooked fish in the dish. Transfer fish to plate. Top with zest and extra sauce if desired.
